I spent the afternoon today, yesterday and Tuesday as well, with 11 members of my 4-H Club and
another 4-H Club- teaching ART!!! We did Painting and Clay Sculpture, and tomorrow we do Drawing and open studio time. I am so amazed and surprizingly tired from all the prep time it takes to make things ready for classes to run and change every hour. Eventually we will all be able to all meet on only two days a week -as opposed to five. I haven't scheduled Saturday yet, but I just have a feeling about it- due to the two who have not made it to class because of schedule conflicts etc.
I can't believe how awesome some of these 6 yr. olds are! I was so taken by the one girl who just watched others and picked up the clay and made her own pinch pot without instruction! Then she also saw what the other kids were doing in painting and totally caught right up to them in one hour, so they're all on the same stage of the painting now. I will be really excited to post their works here if given permission by the parents first. Then I am posting their stuff on my studio space at http://www.artsonia.com/schools/school.asp?id=105652 as soon at they get to the point that they are finished on their paintings, drawings and sculptures. I do have photos of Works In Progress, (WIP's) but I am to tired to climb my stairway just one more time to get the camera, ha ha. I think I have climbed my stairs at least 30 times today. Maybe teaching art out of my basement studio will have a positive affect on my waist and hip measurements!? I can only hope. More to come... sorry about the lack of entries. I have been BUSY. And yes, still looking for a teaching position for this fall. 4-H is just a volunteer thing for the time being.
