I just got a call from my first Teaching friend here in my hometown. She let me in on a teaching position. I hope it is a solid hunch, because I am so tired of Substitute teaching! I have been looking for a position for 12 years here. I am ready to apply out of state! If anyone out there knows of a teaching position in SW Michigan, let me know! The hopes rollercoaster ride is getting old, ya know?
Other than that, not much is new. Marching Band is in season. I designed their clarinet sectional t-shirts! The theme of the show is Agents Under Cover, including music from Pink Panther, Dragnet, Mission Impossible, Officer Krupke of Westside Story, etc. Our football team won their first game, my son is not playing on the team this year by choice.
But he's got a great mass of greymatters up there, and he's made a wise choice. I will miss rooting for him -even if the coach never played him til the end of the games last year. He just made 150 bucks on his first welding job! I can't wait till he starts welding his art designs, he's going to be so rich! Our school delays their start this year till Sept. 7! I am so ready for my son to get his truck on the road and not have to drive them to High School any longer. No tears of sentimentality there yet.
Summerfest was a blast and much better than ever this year. We saw Down the Line from Chicago in concert and they are HOT! Wow, their concert was over the top! We bought their newest cd, and I am kicking myself for not getting their first cd as well. We were all out of our seats at the end of the concert, screaming and dancing for more, one more, just one more. They play at WMU in Sept., and I am definately loooking that date up. We also got great front row seats at the friday concert of Red Willy, a local band from our own hometown. They reallly rock! Nearly blew us away with sizzlin stuff, old classics from every classic rock band -you name it they could play it! There was also another concert that was awesome as well, the Is You Is concert by another local band. They can be found on myspace\isyouis I guess. I know them all from the previous years of marching band. They are a cool bunch of multi-talented graduates! We are so fortunate to have a town that places a high value on the visual and performing arts that they sponsor such an event as Summerfest. That our youth and general public can attend concerts and live performances for free like that is just outstanding! It brings the generations together and cultivates the commerce downtown. I feel so blessed!
